Water & Wastewater Conferences (October 2016)

Since our last LX Standard, we have been out to several more water and wastewater conferences.  We want to show our support for the industry!  We truly believe in all you do and want nothing more than to watch you succeed and be proud of the clean water you make.

In July, we went to Knoxville for the KY/TN Water Professionals Conference.  Eric Link and Shannon Pratt learned that Pokemon Go was pretty exciting in a new city and we saw more of the city with that fun app.  While we were there, we hung out with Yatasha Moore and David Money from TDEC, Brett Ward with UT-MTAS, George Kurz with Sewer Capacity Management, John Wunner from Hendersonville WTP, Greg Anderson with Lebanon WWTP, Anthony Pollock with Murfreesboro Water and Sewer WWTP and countless others that I’m sure we are forgetting.  During the conference, Shannon was named Co-Chair to a new KY/TN WEA committee on Laboratory Procedures along with Daymond Talley from Louisville Metropolitan Sewer District.

In August we ventured into Indiana for a couple of Rural Water Boot Camps and the Indiana WEA Annual Conference, where Eric spoke on the Basics of pH and the Basics of DO.  There we met Odetta Caldwell with Rural Water and Julia Whitson with IWEA.  Shannon connected with the IWEA Lab Committee in hopes of networking with them as the KY/TN Lab Procedures Committee gets up and running.  While in Indianapolis at the IWEA Conference, Eric and Shannon were able to see Hach’s new TU5 series of turbidimeters.

In September, we attended the Ohio AWWA Annual Conference  and Eric spoke at our booth for Expo Tours on Calibration and As Found Data.  Erick West was able to join Eric and Shannon at our booth and was able to discuss calibrating flow meters at pump stations for several operators.

KWWOA hosted us in late September and in October, and Eric presented on Turbidity, the Basics of DO and the Significance of As Found Data before Calibration .  In Lexington, Eric and Shannon ate at the Village Idiot and came out to an awesome piece of artwork on the building across the street.

We are already planning on more conferences for early 2017, with topics like Nutrient Analysis, Turbidity, and how new technology will affect our industry in the coming years.  Keep checking the LX Standard for news about where we will be – and look for us at the next conference you attend.  We’d love to see you there!
