The Accounting & HR Manager plays a critical strategic and operational role in driving our company’s financial growth and maintaining efficient office operations. Reporting directly to the CEO, this individual will oversee full-cycle accounting, manage day-to-day accounts payable (A/P) and accounts receivable (A/R), and provide deep financial insight through a thorough understanding of the P&L statement and Balance Sheet. Additionally, this role oversees human resources functions and supports organizational compliance with ISO/IEC 17025 standards.
The ideal candidate is a seasoned financial professional with a proven track record in small business accounting, high attention to detail, and the strategic foresight to help steer business growth.
Responsibilities
Strategic Financial Leadership & Full-Cycle Accounting
- Analyze and manage the P&L statement, Balance Sheet, and cash flow to guide executive decision-making and company growth strategies.
- Oversee full-cycle accounting operations, ensuring precision, compliance, and timely financial reporting.
- Lead month-end and year-end close processes and assist with high-level financial planning and forecasting.
Day-to-Day Accounting & Finance
- Accounts Payable (A/P): Enter vendor bills, process AP, and prepare weekly payment batches.
- Accounts Receivable (A/R): Create and send customer invoices, reconcile AR, and follow up on outstanding balances.
- Maintain accurate financial entries in NetSuite.
- Reconcile bank and credit card accounts; ensure receipts and coding are complete.
- Track mileage, reimbursements, vendor W-9s, and support 1099 year-end prep.
Human Resources & Administrative Management
- Support recruiting efforts (job postings, screening, interview scheduling).
- Handle new hire onboarding, employment records, and benefits coordination.
- Assist with payroll prep (verifying hours, deductions, PTO, etc.).
- Maintain confidential HR files and ensure compliance with TN and federal labor laws.
- Track certifications, training deadlines, and HR documentation for ISO compliance.
- Manage digital and physical filing systems for accounting and HR documents.
Qualifications
- Experience: 10+ years of full-cycle accounting experience within a small business environment.
- Financial Expertise: Comprehensive knowledge and practical experience managing the P&L statement, Balance Sheet, and general ledger.
- Software: Proficiency with NetSuite, QuickBooks, or similar ERP/accounting systems, along with strong Excel skills.
- HR Knowledge: Working knowledge of HR best practices, employee files, and payroll compliance.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration preferred
Excellent communication, organization, and follow-through skills.
Pay: $35.96 – $38.46 per hour
